International Day of the Midwife

Each year, on the 5th May, GSHS joins the world to celebrate the International Day of the Midwife, recognising that midwives provide essential woman-centered services to our community. This year’s theme is ‘Midwives leading the way with quality care.’

The day recognises the unique impact made both individually and/or collectively by midwives to those that they provide care for. On this day especially, we acknowledge the exceptional professional achievements made within the health service, both to inpatients and outpatients, by our wonderful midwives. Midwives are now recognised under law as a separate profession in Australia which further highlights the outstanding role they perform.

GSHS recognises our midwifery staff’s dedication to the profession on this day as we join with so many others to celebrate midwives across the world. We offer our thanks to all midwives for their continued commitment to the safety, health and wellbeing of the Mothers, babies and families to whom they provide such important care. Thank you so much for your service and care.
