What does a Podiatrist do?

A Podiatrist provides expert advice on the diagnosis, treatment and management of medical and surgical conditions that effect the feet and lower limbs.

A Podiatrist help you to get the most out of your lifestyle by helping to keep you pain free and mobile.

The podiatry department collaborates closely with other services at GSHS and is an active participator in several health promotion groups run in our different locations.

 

Assistance available 

Appointments are available for clients who require:

The Assessment of:

  • Diabetic feet

  • Chronic foot and leg pain

  • Children’s growing pains

  • Neurological conditions affecting function and mobility eg. Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, Peripheral Neuropathy

 

Common problems that we help in the management of include:

  • Diabetic foot disease

  • Arthritic foot disease

  • Chronic foot and ankle pain following injury

  • Chronic tendinopathies

  • Skin and nail problems

 

What are the costs involved? 

Gippsland Southern Health Service charges a small fee for Podiatry services.

 

Referrals 

Referrals can be made by:

  • Yourself

  • Your Doctor

  • Another health professional

  • Family, friends and carers

Appointments are available at Leongatha and Korumburra campuses of GSHS as well as outreach clinics in Tarwin Lower.

We support the Medicare Chronic Disease Management Plan (item 10962). We will respond to all referrals with succinct, timely reporting.
