Gippsland Southern Health Service is seeking a suitably qualified and skilled Registered Nurse to join the highly regarded District Nursing team. The role of a District Nurse is a complex and challenging role and a great career opportunity. This position is limited tenure covering long service leave.

The key objective of this position is to support clients and their carers to remain in the security of their home during periods of illness or disability, by providing skilled nursing care and by teaching and encouraging them and their families to retain their independence.


This objective is achieved by adhering to the following core principles:

  • Maintaining professional care for clients, carers, representatives and their families, aligning with Home Care Common Standards and National standards of care.

  • Respecting client rights in cooperation with the client, carer and their representatives/families.

  • Providing effective collaboration and communication to client/carer/ their representatives, families and other healthcare workers involved in their care.

  • Ensuring care is provided in accordance with GSHS policies and procedures.


Applicants should have well-developed clinical skills and be able to work flexibly with the existing team to support the range of district nursing services provided across the community program. As a team member you will need excellent communication, time management, teamwork and IT skills.  

Current driver’s license, police check and working with children check is essential. This needs to be complimented with the ability to work autonomously in the community setting, referring to Unit Manager for advice as required.
