Philosophy

We have a team of qualified trained nurses who provide physical, emotional psychological and cultural support for all patients, families and friends undergoing treatment.

Services

A weekly service is provided by our Trained Nursing Staff for the administration of chemotherapy. Education, counselling and support are given to our patients and their families.

A Doctor who specialises in both Oncology and Haematology services the department on a fortnightly basis.

We also have the following services available for your convenience:

• Dietitian

• Social Worker (includes Respite Care, Home Help and Post Acute Care)

• Palliative Care Consultant

• Breast Cancer Support Nurse

• Gippsland Cancer Support Group

A comfortable Day Procedures Room has been developed at the Leongatha Hospital, providing a friendly, private environment for our Chemotherapy Patients. The Day Procedures Room is fitted with special armchairs for the patients' use whilst undergoing the treatment.

Location

The Chemotherapy Department is located at the Leongatha Hospital, Koonwarra Road, Leongatha. Gippsland Southern Health Service Chemotherapy Department is affiliated with the LaTrobe Regional Hospital. Covering outreaching areas include:
